Spire Global Backs Colorado Space Cluster with Largest office
Space to Cloud Analytics Company Announces Boulder launch with “Open Sky” event
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spire Global Inc. today announced Boulder, Colorado will become a new vital hub of communication for the space to cloud analytics company. The new office in Boulder will be formally introduced as the largest of Spire’s five global offices on Wednesday, September 26 at an invitation-only “Open Sky Colorado” event at their new custom satellite weather facility. Spire’s fleet of remote sensing satellites utilizes proprietary data and algorithms to provide the most advanced maritime, aviation, and weather tracking in the world.
The company is joining with state and local government officials as advocates for Colorado as a new home for commercial aerospace companies in America. Dignitaries from Colorado's business, technology, political, sports and entertainment landscape will be on hand to note the formal announcement at the opening celebration. Invitees including satellite industry leaders, research institution leadership, and other opinion leaders from around Colorado.
The nearly 25,000 square foot space will join an already thriving community in Boulder and represents Spire’s commitment to Colorado's growing base of industry experts in predictive sciences. Spire CEO, Peter Platzer who is based in Luxembourg, will be onsite to briefly speak about the company’s commitment to Colorado. Spire will offer demonstrations of new and existing technology and tours at the event.
“Growth in Spire's business, fueled by the need for more satellite-based data in the weather world, is driving this large expansion of our local footprint. The high tech and meteorological communities of Colorado have made this an excellent place to do business. The ever changing weather and climate make this location important to us as a company as well as the world as a whole,” said Peter Platzer, CEO, Spire Global Inc.
Spire has become an industry standard in the commercial aerospace sector and operates one of the top 5 largest constellations of satellites in the world. Spire has also launched strategic partnerships across a myriad of verticals including deals with NASA and key players in both the maritime and aviation sectors. Boulder, Colorado will now serve a key hub for developing Spire’s enterprise products and to buttress Spire’s expansive partnerships. The facility will become Spire's largest (by a wide margin) in square footage and the first US expansion since the Luxembourg office joined Glasgow (UK), Singapore, and San Francisco last year.
“We have developed the most accurate measurements of climate-induced temperature change possible. We have 60+ fully functioning satellites deployed in space. It's part of our prelusive strategy to stay ahead of change, whether business or technology, and this new Colorado office plays a large role in both,” said Alexander MacDonald, Global Validation Model Lead, Spire Global.
“The new developments in the Colorado space cluster are gaining momentum. Spaceport Colorado is only the eleventh facility designed for these purposes in America and we applaud the granting of their recent FAA operator licensing. These recent validations represent how quickly Colorado has become an important epicenter for commercial aerospace. This is the exactly the type of economic development attracting best in class organizations like Spire to Boulder.”
